Grace Egan has provided an update on her injury.

Egan, a senior outside hitter at Wisconsin, has played in 15 of Wisconsin's 30 sets in 2026 but has not played since a 3-2 win against No. 10 Florida on Sept. 2, 2026.

Egan was noticeably absent from the team during their weekend in Texas, which included a 3-2 win over No. 15 Texas A&M and a 3-1 loss vs. No. 7 Texas.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Egan clarified that she experienced a setback with her back during the Badgers game against the Gators. She has been seen by medical professionals and they are optimistic for her return.

“I know a lot of you have been wondering where I’ve been lately so I wanted to share a little update. I’m okay, I’m healing, and I’ve had to take some time away from the team to focus on my recovery and put myself in the best position to return as quickly as possible.

“After our home match against Florida I experienced a setback with my back and was in a lot of pain that took me away from the court. After a stressful day I was able to meet with the doctors at UW and was reassured that they are very optimistic about my recovery.

“I’ve been away from the team recently so I can give my body the time and attention it needs to heal. I’m not ready to put an exact date on my return just yet, but I’m working every day toward getting back on the court as soon as possible.

“I will be back and I’m counting down the days.

“I’ve experienced my share of injuries but this brought a level of fear and stress I hadn’t experienced before. Through it all I’ve been reminded that God is with me even when I don’t understand His plan and I’m trusting Him throughout the process.

“Still, I know who I am. I’m not someone who shies away when things get hard. Every setback I’ve faced has made me stronger, and I truly believe I’ll come out of this healthier, better, and playing the best volleyball of my life

“Right now I’m taking everything one day at a time and giving my recovery everything I have. I’m so thankful for my family, teammates, coaches, medical staff, and everyone who has reached out and supported me.

“And to Badger Nation your support means more than you know. Knowing you’re behind me gives me another reason to keep getting back up even on the hardest days. I cannot wait to be back in the Field House with you all.

“I’m keeping the comments off for now, but I’d still love to hear from you. If you’d like to leave me a note, there’s a link in my bio. I’ll do my best to read every single one. Thank you so much for being in my corner.

“This is a setback. I’ll be back.”

In 2026, Egan has scored 47.5 points for the Badgers, with 37 kills and a .242 hitting percentage. She is the fourth-highest point scorer, has the fourth-most kills, and the seventh-highest hitting percentage on the team. Even with her limited play, Egan has averaged 2.53 digs per set, good for fourth-best on the team, and has had 57 receptions, one error, and a .982 reception percentage, best on the team for five-plus reception attempts.
