Omaha Supernovas Reward Interim Coach With Associate Head Coach Promotion

The Omaha Supernovas have promoted Thomas Robson to associate head coach after he served as interim head coach for the final six matches of 2026.

The Omaha Supernovas (2025 21-7) have officially named Thomas Robson as associate head coach for the 2027 season.

Robson will help with team training, preparation, and development.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue growing with the Supernovas organization,” Robson said. “I’m excited to support Chris [McGown], our staff, and our athletes as we continue building something special in Omaha alongside the incredible NovasNation fanbase.”

Robson has been a member of the Omaha Supernovas staff since their debut in 2024 when they won the inaugural Major League Volleyball (previously Pro Volleyball Federation) championship, defeating the Grand Rapids Rise 3-0. In 2025, he helped guide the rebuilt roster to a MLV regular season title and semifinal appearance.

In 2026, Robson was named interim head coach for the final six games of the regular season. He guided the Supernovas to their third consecutive postseason and second championship match.

Prior to the Supernovas, Robson was a volunteer assistant coach in 2022 at Wisconsin under Kelly Sheffield. There, the Badgers won their 4th consecutive Big Ten Championship, compiled a 28-4 (19-1 in conference) record and a 5th straight Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA tournament.

Robson started his coaching career in 2019 as a student assistant coach for the NAIA Viterbo V-Hawks and was promoted to assistant coach from 2020-2021. The V-Hawks went 89-18 while Robson was on staff, advanced to one NAIA national semifinal appearance and two quarterfinal appearances. He helped develop nine All-Americans and three regional players of the year across his tenure. Robson returned to Viterbo in 2023, leading the V-Hawks to a second NAIA national semifinal appearance.
