United States Host Cities Announced for 2027 Women’s Volleyball World Cup

Anaheim, Orlando, and Omaha have been selected to host the 2027 Women’s Volleyball World Cup.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Women’s Volleyball World Cup is headed to North America for the first time in 2027, and the host cities and venues for the United States have been revealed. 

Chosen based on fan bases, seating capacities, and markets that are powerful enough to grow the game, Anaheim, California (Honda Center), Omaha, Nebraska (CHI Health Center Arena), and Orlando, Florida (Kia Center) are among the host cities for the 32-nation tournament. Host cities and venues in Canada will be announced at a later date. 

The World Cup will be held from August 20 to September 5, 2027, serving as an Olympic Qualifier for the Los Angeles Games in 2028. Omaha and Orlando will host Pooly Play and the Round-Of-16 matches, while Anaheim will host the quarters, semis, and finals. 

According to the FIVB, each city chosen brings unique attributes and experiences that are set to not only elevate the city, but make this first-ever North America appearance beyond anything the sport has evern seen. 

“USA Volleyball, Volleyball Canada, and the WVWC27 Local Host Committee are proud to announce a series of ‘firsts’ for the sport in North America,” Craig Thompson, CEO of the WVWC27 Local Host Committee said in a press release. “The most modern and professional sport venues to ever host this event, 57 hours of live match and studio coverage, and the finals week at the spectacular OCVIBE district. This World Cup will elevate volleyball in North America to the top level of women’s sports, where it belongs.” 

Following the World Cup, the Honda Center in Ahaheim will serve as the host venue for the women’s and men’s indoor volleyball competition at the Los Angeles Games. 

LA28 Women's Indoor Volleyball Qualifiers So Far 

United States 

The United States earns an automatic bid as the host country, and will mark the third time they host an Olympic volleyball event after Los Angeles 1984 and Atlanta 1996. Women’s indoor has medaled in each of the last Olympic Games, with silver being the latest from Paris 2024. 

Canada 

Canada women’s indoor volleyball ended a 32-year Olympic drought and earned the first spot at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games when they took down the Dominican Republic in the championship match of the women's volleyball NORCECA Continental Qualifier. 

Brazil 

After earning a bronze medal at Paris 2024, Brazil took the win at the CSV Women’s Volleyball South American Championship to qualify for Los Angeles. 2028 will mark the nation’s 13th Olympics in a row. 

Thailand 

Women’s volleyball qualified for its first-ever Olympic Games after winning the 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Asian Championship in Tianjin, China. It marks the first time that both Thailand’s women’s and men’s teams will compete in indoor volleyball. 

Egypt 

Women’s volleyball qualified for its first-ever Olympic Games when they won the CAVB Women's Volleyball African Nations Championship. 

Turkey 

Turkey won the Women’s Volleyball European Championship at home in Istanbul to earn a spot in Los Angeles. They grabbed fourth place in Paris, and are now looking to medal in 2028.
