Dallas Wings star rookie Azzi Fudd (who is now sidelined for the rest of the season) praised Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark during an interview with WFAA that aired on Friday.

When asked about what she saw from Clark when they were Team USA U-16 teammates compared to now, Fudd said, "I feel like Caitlin is similar to how she is now. Obviously, she has grown in her game, and her confidence, but she was still that three-point shooter; she was still super competitive. She was still, yeah, fun to play with."

Fudd was then asked what she sees in Caitlin's game that's so impressive to her and said, "To do what she's doing is difficult. So, to see her create the way that she is, to hit the shots that she's hitting, to play with that poise, it's impressive. And then also to know that she has been doing that for so long.

"You see the growth that she's had, but to know that I was playing against her in AAU and she was doing the same stuff. It's amazing to see her and what she's accomplishing," Fudd added.

It's no surprise to hear Fudd speaking about how Clark was this same sharpshooter and play-maker nearly a decade ago as she is now, and that No. 22 has just continued to hone her game to reach this point.

Fudd only got one chance to play against Clark during her rookie season, which came during the Fever and the Wings' season opener. This is because Fudd missed their last two contests with the same injury that now requires surgery and will keep her sidelined for the rest of this season.

Azzi Fudd and Caitlin Clark Team USA U-16 Squad

There's a case to be made that Fudd and Clark were on the greatest youth women's basketball team of all time. The U-16 Team USA squad they were on together won the gold medal at the FIBA U-16 Women's Americas Championship in Argentina in 2017.

And this roster didn't just include Clark and Fudd. It also had Clark's teammate, Aliyah Boston, and Fudd's teammate Paige Bueckers. Therefore, this U16 roster had the past four No. 1 overall picks in the WNBA Draft. This is why it's no surprise to hear how dominant they were in every game they played.

Hopefully, Fudd and Clark will be healthy enough to compete against each other every time the Fever and the Wings play in 2027.
