Tyrese Haliburton has company when it comes to good jokes about winning gold without contributing too much, that in the form of the legendary Diana Taurasi. Taurasi secured a record sixth gold medal after Team USA narrowly defeated France in Olympics basketball action. A game that DT did not see the floor during.

Afterwards Diana was asked by USA Today Sports reporter Lindsay Schnell how it felt to pass Sue Bird in medal count. To which DT replied, “Yeah, it’s the only reason I came. It’s funny cause we scored the same amount of points today.”

Obviously Taurasi is self aware enough to realize her on court contributions were not what they were during previous Olympics appearances. Diana played the fewest minutes on Team USA and averaged one point per game.

The crack was sort of reminiscent of the one made by Haliburton on the men's side, minus the Sue Bird reference. Tyrese had posted, "When you ain’t do nun on the group project and still get an A" following the men's gold medal win, also coming against France.

Just because DT joked about her lack of production during this run, doesn't mean it was devoid of meaning. Taurasi embraced a moment with her parents following the victory in Paris, knowing that would be the last time she competed in the games.

The WNBA and women's basketball legend is already on record saying 2028 in Los Angeles is a no go for her. She is currently in her 20th season with the Phoenix Mercury after all.

As far as what she'll be doing when those Olympics roll around, Taurasi previously cracked, "Yeah, you're gonna see me in L.A. on the beach with a beer."
