USA Women's Basketball Team Missing from Beyoncé Olympics Promo

Beyoncé starred in an awesome promo to hype up Team USA before the Olympics. However, while many probably didn't notice, some fans online were quick to point out an omission. The women's basketball team. The squad is going for an 8th consecutive gold medal, but that wasn't enough for one second of coverage in the almost three minute spot.

It must be pointed out that it is completely unclear what went into the production of the piece. We have no idea how appearances were chosen, nor what the availability and schedule of players was. And it is only fair to also recognize that the women's soccer team did not appear either. But that didn't stop some online from expressing disappointment at the seeming snub.
Them leaving out the USA women’s basketball team when they going for their 8th gold medal is insane. Idc what they were doing when it was filmed ain’t no reason at least DT and Aj’a shouldn’t be in that video with Beyonce. That pisses me off

Of course while Team USA does feature notable stars like A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and league legend Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury, who is going for a record sixth gold in Paris, the WNBA's most famous player is not on the roster. Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark was notably left off and that was also expressed in reaction to the video featuring the legendary music artist.
Seeing lots of disappointment that the women’s basketball team wasn’t featured. They told everyone they were fine with little-to-no publicity when they snubbed the biggest name in the sport, so this shouldn’t be a surprise. This is about winning gold, not being marketable, right? https://t.co/ddvPjTFli8

Clark has clearly played well enough since not being selected to have earned a roster spot, and it is common sense that NBC and other Olympics partners would have done whatever they could to feature CC given the effect she has had on the growth of the women's game.

Regardless, none of the internet noise will stand in the way of Team USA attempting to continue its winning streak in Paris. The women have not lost a game since 1992 and are the heavy favorites to win gold again. It remains to be seen how publicized such a victory would be.
