Dr. Jen Roper, PhD, CSCS

Dr. Jen Roper, PhD, CSCS is an Associate Professor of Health and Human Sciences at Loyola Marymount University. She received her PhD in Physical Education, Sports and Exercise Science in 2015 from the University of New Mexico, with a specialization in Exercise Science and Biomechanics. Her training included extensive education in nutrition, which she used to attain certifications as a Certified Sports Nutritionists from the International Society of Sports Nutrition and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She currently teaches a wide variety of courses, including Nutrition, Kinesiology, and Scientific Principles of Strength & Conditioning.

Since receiving her degree, Dr. Roper has presented at several scientific conferences on topics related to sports nutrition. She also has given talks on sports nutrition to the local community. During her time at California State University, San Bernardino she served as a nutrition consultant to the women’s soccer and cross-country teams. Additionally, Dr. Roper has written numerous articles on sport supplementation in Inside Fitness and Iron Man magazines.

She currently serves the greater scientific community in several ways, but most prominently as President-Elect for the Southwest region of the American College of Sports Medicine. With many hats that are worn, Dr. Roper still finds time to play beach volleyball, beach flag football, and competitive kickball all while training for half marathons. You can always find her by the beach in Southern California with her loveable dog Darwin.
