Clemson Baseball finishes season sweep of Coastal Carolina

The Tigers took down Coastal Carolina on Wednesday to complete the season sweep.

National baseball powerhouse Coastal Carolina has fallen for the second time this season to the Clemson Tigers, completing the season sweep. After a dominant 16-6 victory back on April 4th the Tigers had a real chance, after a dominant stretch lately, to make sure the entire country knew this team was for real. It's safe to say that by the end of the night, they left no doubt in anyone's mind.

After a Billy Amick RBI single to start the game in the 1st inning and a response in kind from the Chanticleers in the 2nd, the game went into the 3rd still very much up in the air. That's when Jacob Jarrell changed everything. After a few runs thanks to some defensive mistakes from Coastal, Jarrell sent a deep blast to left to double the Tigers' scoring output thus far with a massive grand slam that put the game away for good.

Amick and Caden Grice followed later on with their own home runs and Clemson ended the game with a final score of 13-6 in favor of the good guys. Coach Erik Bakich spoke with reporters afterward and had this to say about his team's big win: "Proud of the way we competed tonight. Got some big hits none bigger than Jacob Jarrells grand slam early on. That really helped us separate and play with the lead, expand the lead the rest of the night." Bakich went on the sing the praises of Coastal Carolina and how he understands why they have the ranking they do but it was obvious that winning this game really solidified the type of run his team has been making for quite some time now.

Clemson next takes on Virginia Tech in a 3-game series starting Friday, May 12th.
