Clemson makes the top ten for four-star safety

Clemson made the top ten for four-star safety Jontae Gilbert. The 2025 safety is one of the top players in his class.

After decommitting from Ohio State back in July, class of 2025 safety Jontae Gilbert has been one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation. The four-star safety out of Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia is ranked as the No. 2 player at his position by 247's Composite Rankings.

On Friday, Gilbert dropped his top ten list with On3's Hayes Fawcett. Clemson made the list, along with LSU, Auburn, Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, USC, N.C. State, and Texas.

The 6-foot-1 safety has 13 tackles and an interception for his Douglass team as the Astros are 5-2 through seven games. He's added 234 total yards and a touchdown on offense.

As of now, Clemson has not officially offered Gilbert, which is interesting but not surprising. Number one, Clemson's scholarships are tight and Dabo Swinney has a large class of juniors and seniors who have some big decisions to make around their NFL futures. Number two, Clemson is notoriously slow to offer as they place an emphasis on finding guys that fit their culture.
