Florida State Sees Four-Star DE Commit Armondo Blount Flip To Miami

A second member of FSU's 2024 class has flipped their commitment during the Early Signing Period.

The Early Signing Period has not gone as expected in Tallahassee. After losing five-star defensive back and top commitment KJ Bolden to the Georgia Bulldogs earlier in the day, another member of Florida State's class is signing with another program.

On Wednesday evening, four-star defensive end Armondo Blount flipped from the Seminoles to the Miami Hurricanes. The decision doesn't come as a major surprise after he chose to visit Miami last weekend rather than following through with a previously scheduled official visit to Tallahassee.

Regardless, it's disappointing news as the Seminoles also missed out on five-star LJ McCray. Florida State only has four-star defensive end DD Holmes and Georgia transfer Marvin Jones Jr. in the fold. The team needs more talent on the outside with Jared Verse making the leap to the professional level.

The Florida native recorded 58 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries during his final season at the prep level.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman is regarded as the No. 41 overall prospect, the No. 9 DL, and the No. 6 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.

As of now, Florida State holds 21 signees in its 2024 class, which ranks No. 10 overall in the country according to 247Sports.
