FSU Football Showing Interest In Record-Holding Ivy League Transfer

The Seminoles are pursuing an intriguing athlete out of the transfer portal.

Florida State is always searching for more talent - no matter how it can be acquired. The Seminoles have brought in prospects from all different walks of life over the past couple of years, including high school recruits, junior college standouts, or experienced players out of the transfers.

The program dipped into the G5 for Tatum Bethune while scouring the FCS to find Jared Verse and the D2 level to find Kyle Morlock. The mantra is simple; if you're good enough, Florida State will find you.

The Seminoles have gone on another big run in the transfer portal over the past couple of weeks. With that being said, the coaching staff is still searching for a couple more pieces to complete the puzzle as they prepare for the 2024 season.

Over the weekend, FSU hosted Cornell graduate transfer Emmanuel Adebi for a multi-day unofficial visit. He was able to meet with the coaching staff, go through a photoshoot, and view a Tour of Duty workout while on campus. The Seminoles have joined Boston College and UMass in offering him a preferred walk-on opportunity.

Adebi has two years of eligibility remaining after suiting up for the Big Red for four seasons. His first season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and he redshirted in 2021.

The Delaware native became a crucial piece of Cornell's special teams success. He led the FCS with four blocked kicks, including two that came in the same game, in just six appearances in 2022. Adebi followed that up with three more blocks this past season while adding seven catches for 76 yards on offense. He blocked two extra points in a loss to Harvard.

Adebi's seven blocked extra points are a Cornell record and he achieved the feat in just ten games. That type of production would be a welcome addition to a Florida State team that has prided itself on its performance on special teams over the last few years.

It's unclear what position Adebi would play if he does choose the Seminoles. The 6-foot-5, 263-pound athlete spent most of his time as a tight end at Cornell but he's got the size, athleticism, and potential to fill in at multiple areas on either side of the ball.

Florida State has landed 15 players out of the portal and holds one of the top 2024 classes in the country. Adebi would be the second Ivy League addition to the program as the Seminoles previously landed Harvard offensive line transfer Jacob Rizy.
