BREAKING: Michigan State lands commitment from in-state offensive lineman

The Spartans end long commitment drought in the 2024 class...

After a long drought, Michigan State football has finally added to its 2024 recruiting class.

On Saturday, three-star Mt. Pleasant (Mich.) interior offensive lineman Andrew Dennis gave a verbal pledge to the Spartans with a post on social media.

"After a great recruitment process and much thought and consideration, I am blessed and honored to say that I am fully committed to Michigan State University," Dennis wrote.

"Thank you Coach Tucker, Coach Kap, and Coach Johnson for making Michigan State feel like home. With that being said, GO GREEN!"

Dennis was considered Michigan State offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic's top in-state O-line target for the 2024 recruiting cycle. He has offers from 25 FBS programs including Wisconsin, Baylor, Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Minnesota and others. Dennis has also taken visits to Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State.

"First off, I would like to say that I am extremely blessed and grateful for being in the position that I am today," Dennis wrote. "My recruitment process has been amazing and a true blessing. The amount of amazing people that I met and relationships that I have made is astonishing. Many that I will call lifetime friends."

Standing 6-foot-4.5 and weighing in at 275 pounds, Dennis projects as either a guard or center at the collegiate level. A three-star prospect, he is ranked No. 717 overall, the No. 46 interior offensive lineman and No. 13 player from the state of Michigan in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Michigan State is off to a slower start on the recruiting trail during this cycle than in years past, as Dennis is currently just the third 2024 commitment for the Spartans. He joins four-star Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale cornerback Jamari Howard and four-star Westland Hialeah (Fla.) cornerback Jaylen Thompson.

Back on March 7, MSU lost its highest-ranked 2024 commit when four-star River Rouge (Mich.) wide receiver Nick Marsh re-opened his recruitment. The Spartans are still in the hunt to get Marsh back in the fold, but they have their work cut out for them in the battle for the No. 79 overall player in the country.

With Dennis' commitment, Michigan State's 2024 class is now ranked No. 36 in the country and No. 8 in the Big Ten. The Spartans' average player ranking of 90.52 is the fourth-best mark in the conference.
