The state of college football has changed immensely over recent years. Between bowl opt-outs for NFL Drafts, transfer portal exits and NIL, the early stages of the offseason are full of roster changes. Something that people couldn't have predicted, though, is players returning their announcements to programs they've already been with.

Still, the Oklahoma State Cowboys have been receiving re-commitments and players affirming the fanbase of their return to the program for the next season. So far, the Cowboys are set up incredibly nicely for the 2024 football season.

Offensively, Ollie Gordon and his veteran offensive line are all returning, and they're bringing in Isaia Glass from Arizona State to add to the mix. They're going to have a sure identity from the get-go next season, which is something the program lacked this season. Alan Bowman is trying to return to give the Cowboys their answer at the quarterback position, too.

Defensively, the Cowboys found their stride under the first-year defensive coordinator with the program Bryan Nardo. Still, there were shaky moments with blown coverages in the 3-3-5 defense, but the outlook is promising for the future of Oklahoma State's defense.

With a strong linebacker corps, the Cowboys just need to ensure a solid defensive line is in Stillwater next season as they try to find their answer in the secondary. The first domino has fallen for the defensive line, as Collin Clay announced he is returning for next year's college football season.

Clay is a veteran on the line. He began his college football career with Arkansas in 2019 before transferring to Oklahoma State in 2020. He's been in Stillwater over the past four years and is playing one last season with the Cowboys.

"Cowboy fans are the greatest in the land," Clay wrote on social media. "I'm looking forward to immersing myself in the culture one more year."

It'll be interesting to see what members of the defense follow suit and announce their returns to the program next season as the Cowboys have a chance to make some serous noise in the Big 12, which seems to be wide open as of right now.
