Oklahoma State Softball Notebook: Weekend Review (2/11)

Cowgirl softball got things going this week, and it was a perfect start to the season.

Oklahoma State softball started its season this week with Cal State Northridge on Thursday and playing five games in the next four days.

Off some stellar pitching performances and offensive firepower, the Cowgirls are coming away with a 5-0 start to the season.

CSUN: 8-0 Win

It was a slow start to the game, but seven runs in the last two innings secured the run-rule victory over the Matadors.

Lexi Kilfoyl got the start against CSUN, giving up zero runs, zero hits and one strikeout in two innings pitched.

Katie Kutz took over in the third and she was just as consistent, giving up zero runs on two hits in two innings pitched.

Eight cowgirls collected hits on the night, but Audrey Schneidmiller's three-RBI triple was the dagger, putting OSU up 7-0 late in the fifth inning.

Ivy Rosenberry came in and closed out the contest, giving up zero runs and zero hits, with two strikeouts, securing the season-opening win.

LMU: 1-0 Win

It was an offensive struggle on Friday, but Caroline Wang's solo home run in the seventh inning was all OSU needed, taking home the victory over Loyola Marymount.

Kyra Aycock got the start in the circle and she was efficient, giving up zero runs on three hits with four strikeouts.

The Cowgirls had three hits on the night, but Wang's bomb was the difference maker, helping OSU get to 2-0 on the young season.

Utah State: 10-1 Win

Eleven cowgirls secured hits as OSU took the victory in five innings.

Wang had another huge day at the plate, going 3 for 4 with one RBI. Tallen Edwards looked like her usual self, going 1 for 3 with three RBIs.

Katie Kutz got the start and she wasn't fazed, giving up one run on one hit with five strikeouts.

UC Riverside: 13-1 Win

The second game on Saturday was much of the same as the Cowgirls steamrolled through UC Riverside in six innings.

Wang blew the game wide open from the start, hitting a three-run shot in the first, putting OSU up 3-0 early.

The third inning is where the Cowgirls put the game out of reach, posting five runs and stretching the lead to 9-0 in the third.

UC Riverside collected two runs in the bottom half of the inning, but Jilyen Poullard's RBI-single in the fifth and Karli Godwin's RBI-single in the sixth helped OSU secure the run-rule victory.

UCLA: 9-1 Win

Three home runs in the fifth inning helped the Cowgirls to a Top 10 victory over UCLA.

Megan Bloodworth got things going, hitting a two-run shot in the second inning, putting OSU up 3-0.

The Cowgirls did damage in the fifth, scoring six runs in the inning,  including Katie Lott and Rosie Davis hitting back-to-back home runs.

Ivy Rosenberry and Lexi Kilfoyl tamed UCLA, giving up one run on three hits with four strikeouts combined against the Bruins.
