USC Football: Let’s See What Trojans Recruiting Has Cooking This Week

Recapping some of the latest efforts by the Trojan football recruiting battery

Fresh off a new support staff hire, the recruiting department under Lincoln Riley has been quite active this week. With a solid group of recruits set to tour campus this weekend, as well as in-person visits from staff across the country, the USC recruiting machine is firing on all cylinders. It should only be a matter of weeks before they land their first (not counting the reclassification of Julian Lewis) 2025 verbal commitment.

Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco, CA) OL Peter Langi (2025) will be checking out both USC and UCLA this weekend. He's one of the most college-ready guards on the West Coast, visiting teams both in need of help at guard.

Centennial (Corona, CA) cornerback LaRue Zamorano (2025) will be joining Langi on the visit to USC. 247 Sports thinks he's a three-star and a top-400 recruit in his class. He sure looks the part in this ISO cam.

As far as offers out this week, USC added Eureka (Eureka, MO) offensive tackle Jack Lange (2025) and Christian Brothers College (Saint Louis, MO) wide receiver Corey Simms (2025) to that list. Jack Lange, a 6-foot-8 four-star left tackle, is a fantastic athlete and coaches across the country are relishing at how physical he is at "just" 275 pounds.

He's got a bright future wherever he lands. 6-foot-3 wideout Corey Simms is considering offers from Miami, Georgia, LSU, and others and is fresh off a 1,000+ yard, 12 touchdown season, leading his team to a Missouri state championship.

Lincoln Riley and new defensive line coach Eric Henderson are also doing their part, taking time to visit a couple 2025 recruits in Texas.

Lincoln Riley was chopping it up with Hitchcock (Hitchcock, TX) wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson (2025), who one scouting analyst described as a having potential at corner back or wide receiver at the next level, but that he might be "too good with the ball in his hands to keep him away from offense.

Trojan defensive line coach Eric Henderson met up with Bellville (Bellville, TX) defensive tackle DJ Sanders and Fort Bend Christian Academy (Sugar Land, TX) athlete Max Granville, both of whom are in the class of 2025 and have offers from Alabama, Baylor, Florida, and Auburn.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Granville is an absolute menace as a defender, but also caught 18 passes for nearly 600 yards and four touchdowns on offense this season. He played a lot of defensive end in his junior season highlights, but I get the feeling coaches are split on what position he'll play in college.
