Kyle Teel and Zack Gelof Listed on MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects

Six former Virginia baseball players are listed as top 25 prospects for their respective organizations

MLB.com updated its MLB Pipeline Top 100 Prospects list on Friday and two former Virginia baseball players cracked the Top 100 and six total former Cavaliers were listed as top 25 prospects for their respective organizations. 

Kyle Teel, who was selected by the Boston Red Sox with the No. 14 overall pick in the first round of this year's MLB Draft, came in at No. 88 in the Top 100. Teel is also listed as the No. 4 prospect in Boston's organization. 

Zack Gelof, who was drafted in the second round in 2021 and made his Major League debut for the Oakland Athletics this summer on July 14th, is No. 95 on the Top 100 Prospects list as well as the No. 4-ranked second baseman and the No. 3-ranked prospect in Oakland's organization. 

Zack Gelof's younger brother Jake Gelof, who was taken with the No. 60 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers is the franchise's No. 16-ranked prospect, while fellow former Wahoo Chris Newell is listed at No. 24 for the Dodgers. 

Former UVA pitcher Griff McGarry is the No. 6-ranked prospect and third-ranked pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies' organization. 

Mike Vasil, another former Wahoo pitcher, is listed as the No. 9-ranked prospect for the New York Mets and their top-ranked pitcher.
