Should The Miami Heat Sign This NBA Legend's Son?

The Los Angeles Lakers recently waived Scotty Pippen Jr., and he is now a free agent.

Scotty Pippen Jr. is coming off his rookie year, where he appeared in six games for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 22-year-old averaged 2.3 points per contest while shooting 33.3% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range.

On Monday, the Lakers waived Pippen Jr., and he has now cleared waivers, so he is a free agent that is available to be signed by any team in the league.

Should the Miami Heat sign Pippen Jr.?

In addition to his time in the NBA, Pippen Jr. also played in the G League and had a fantastic season.

Over 19 regular season games, he averaged 21.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 46.9% from the field.

He also played in 16 Showcase Cup games and averaged 23.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.7 steals per contest while shooting 43.9% from the field.

Pippen Jr. was also a talented scorer in college for Vanderbilt, so it's possible that he has the potential to be a good NBA player with the right team.

The Heat are known to bring out the best in their role players and have done well with former college scorers such as Kendrick Nunn, Dion Waiters, Gabe Vincent, Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro.

Pippen Jr. will now likely play for the South Bay Lakers (G League affiliate of the Lakers) to start the season.

That said, he will be a name to keep an eye on, as any team could sign him to a ten-day contract.
