Kings' Trey Lyles Receives Untimely Injury Update

Sacramento's Trey Lyles is set to miss extended time with a knee injury.

The Sacramento Kings have gotten hot at the right time, winning four of their last five games, capped off by back-to-back home wins against the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. With 17 games remaining, the Kings are trending in the right direction, but recent injury news could damage their momentum.

After suffering an apparent injury in their win over the Bucks on Tuesday, it has been confirmed that Sacramento's Trey Lyles has a sprained MCL in his left knee. The valuable forward will be reevaluated in two weeks.

Lyles has been an integral piece of Sacramento's bench unit this season, averaging 7.1 points and 4.4 rebounds as the 7th man. With the season winding down, his untimely injury will put a hole in Sacramento's lineup.

In Wednesday's win over the Lakers, Mike Brown showed what a lineup without Lyles looks like, as Alex Len received an expanded role to fill his absence. As the playoffs inch closer, the Kings will slim down their rotation regardless, with a bench centered around Davion Mitchell, Keon Ellis, and Sixth Man of the Year frontrunner Malik Monk.

Being reevaluated in two weeks, Lyles is set to miss at least the next seven games. All Kings fans hope Lyles will have a speedy recovery and will certainly miss his presence off the bench.
