The Line: Saints by 7 1/2 (over/under 41 1/2)

The Matchup: QB Tyson Bagent makes his third start because of Justin Fields' thumb dislocation after a 30-13 loss Sunday night at Los Angeles to the Chargers. The Bears won his first start against the Raiders 30-12. The Saints are coming off a 38-27 win on the road over the Colts and are tied for first with Atlanta in the NFC South.

The Series: The 34th overall meeting. The Saints lead the series 18-15. This includes three playoff games, two of which the Bears won. The Saints have won the last seven games in the series, including their last matchup after the 2020 season in a playoff game in New Orleans 21-9. The Bears haven't won in New Orleans since 1991 under Mike Ditka, a 20-17 victory. They did win a road game over the Saints in 2005, 20-17, but it was in Baton Rouge at LSU due to the damage done at the Superdome by Hurricane Katrina.

The Coaches: Bears coach Matt Eberflus is 5-20 in his second season and has not faced the Saints. Saints coach Dennis Allen is 11-14 in his second season with New Orleans and has not faced the Bears. He is 19-42 overall in his fifth season as an NFL coach.

Last Week:  Bagent went 25-of-37 for 232 yards with two interceptions and the Chargers dominated the Bears from the outset. Their defense allowed 298 yards passing with three TDs to Justin Herbert. 

Derek Carr threw for 310 yards and two TDs on 19-of-27, while Taysom Hill rushed for two TDs in the Saints' win over the Colts.

Notable: In his last three games against the Saints, Bears WR DJ Moore was held to five total catches for 41 yards and no TDs ... TE Cole Kmet's 10 catches (on 10 targets) against the Chargers was a career high.  ... T.J. Edwards has 83 tackles, third highest total in the league. ... Eddie Jackson, Cole Kmet and Cody Whitehair are the only Bears starters remaining who started the 2020 wild card playoff game against the Saints. ... The Saints' 511 net yards in Sunday's win over the Colts was their most since Christmas, 2020. ... Saints linebacker Nephi Sewell is the brother of Bears rookie linebacker Noah Sewell. ... The oldest Saints player is 36-year-old former Bears tight end Jimmy Graham, who has one catch for 8 yards. ... RB Alvin Kamara has never had a 1,000-yard rushing season. ... The Saints defense has takeaways in its last 13 games. ... Since 2008, the Saints are 82-40 at home, fifth-best home record in the league for that period. ... Saints WR Rashid Shaheed is second in the NFL in all-purpose yards with 988 and leads the league in yards per catch (20.8). He leads the NFL in punt return average at 16.2 yards. ... Saints defensive lineman Cameron Jordan will become the second player from the franchise after Drew Brees to start 200 games on Sunday.
