Chargers News: Mike Williams Adding AFC North Powerhouse to Visit List

The former first-round draft pick will visit this historic AFC team next week.

Former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is set to visit two NFL teams next week: the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers. Those two teams look forward to hosting the star wide receiver; however, they'll be getting some competition.

Williams has added the AFC North powerhouse, the Pittsburgh Steelers, to the list. CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson announced via X.

The Steelers have already added two quarterbacks to their team, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. The Steelers front office will now look to pair either one with a deep threat like Williams.

In addition, the Steelers need a wide receiver after trading away Diontae Johnson and releasing Allen Robinson. It's unsure how much money Williams will want, but the Steelers can certainly afford the 29-year-old if it isn't much.

Williams' season ended abruptly after he tore his ACL in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings. Before his injury, he was on pace for a Pro Bowl-type season. Williams recorded 19 receptions in three games on 26 targets, 249 yards, and one touchdown.

Injuries will be a concern for the athletic wide reliever, as he's suffered a multitude of them throughout his career, aside from the ACL injury. One thing is certain: Williams will be spectacular wherever he goes as long as he is on the football field.
