Trevor Lawrence goes down with an injury against the Bengals.

Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence went down with an injury on Monday Night Football, but reports are saying the former Clemson star could return this season.

Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has helped lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to an 8-4 record. Unfortunately for Lawrence, the former No. 1 overall pick, went down on Monday night in his team's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. With the game tied at 28, Lawrence was trying to come up with a big third down throw with under six minutes left to go in the 4th quarter. As he dropped back he was incidentally stepped on by his own offensive lineman as Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson executed a bull rush up the field.

Lawrence tried to get up but immediately fell back down in pain and clear frustration. Even Hendrickson, an opponent, took a moment to kneel and say a prayer for Lawrence as it was clear his night was most likely done.

Trevor Lawrence - Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence could miss multiple weeks with an injury.

There is good news, however. It's being reported on Tuesday that the quarterback has only a high ankle sprain, and while those can certainly be debilitating it doesn't appear as if this injury will end Lawrence's season. His status for this upcoming week against the Cleveland Browns is uncertain.

Unfortunately, with their star out, Jacksonville eventually succumbed to the Bengals in overtime and fell to 8-4 on the season. They'll have to move forward on the road to Cleveland this Sunday with backup CJ Beathard as the potential starter.
