Anthony Edwards: New York, L.A. 'ain't better than Minnesota'
It didn’t take long to see after Anthony Edwards was drafted that he was the best Timberwolves player since Kevin Garnett graced the Target Center floor.
It appears, however, that Edwards is determined to take a different path than that of Garnett, who was traded during his prime after frustration with the organization.
Tom Kludt recently wrote an in-depth article about Edwards for Vanity Fair, covering everything from Edwards’ growing superstar to his childhood to his controversies. Near the end of the article, Kludt covers the popularity of super teams popping up in large markets, with star players being lured by the bright lights of the big cities. But Kludt writes that “Edwards doesn’t appear to be wired that way.”
Edwards told Kludt that the bright lights of New York and Los Angeles are “cool” but "they ain't better than Minnesota." Rather than join up with other superstars elsewhere, Edwards would like to bring a championship to the Twin Cities.
“Hell yeah, I ain’t going nowhere,” Edwards is quoted in the Vanity Fair piece as saying. “As long as they don’t trade me, we good.”
Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, meanwhile, told Vanity Fair that Edwards’ “commitment is unwavering to the Timberwolves organization.”
So, it appears Edwards will be in Minnesota for the foreseeable future, something Timberwolves fans have to be happy to hear.
