Aberg has a pair of missed cuts at this tournament to go along with a T-14 finish in his 3 appearances. The market clearly isn’t worried about his past at this course, but rather his current form coming into the tournament. He is coming off back to back top 5 finishes at the Players Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The market is looking at his talent, and talent alone, in which case he does belong right near the top.

Fleetwood might be making an even stronger statistical case currently. He is the highest ranked player in the field this week, coming in at number 4 in the OWGR. His iron play is as consistent as anyone on tour, and currently leads the Tour in strokes gained around-the-green. He has been in great form this year, with 3 of his 4 starts ending in a top 10 finish. He looks like he could be a genuine threat to go low this week and steal a win heading into the Masters to give himself some great momentum.

Spieth has had some really good weeks playing the Valero, including his first place finish back in 2021. The Texas native has spoken out about how much he enjoys playing in his home state, and he knows TPC San Antonio specifically very well. That familiarity is a big advantage on the field, especially on a course that plays deceptively harder than many think. Spieth will take this week on a course he knows to tune his game for the Masters, he has been very clear on his desire to take home a green jacket and that motivation should drive him this week. Look for Spieth to find his way around the course this week, and bring some solid numbers into the clubhouse. At 5% on Kalshi, the market is acknowledging his ability and current form while not fully committing.

Russell Henley has quietly become one of the more consistent players on Tour these last few years. He comes into this tournament as the number 10 ranked golfer per OWGR, and has been putting up good scores across major tournaments. This shows that he is able to navigate tough tracks and put himself into contention. He is not without his faults like everyone else, but he manages to keep himself out of trouble very well. This course historically rewarded players who fit that same mold. It’s not the flashiest name among the bunch, but at 5% the market is valuing him as someone whose steady game could outlast the rest of the field for 72 holes in rough Texas conditions.

Robert MacIntyre’s Case at 5%: The Wild Card

Robert MacIntyre is one of the more interesting names in this cluster of players at the top.
