The spring transfer portal has seen a large amount of athletes look for new opportunities, with one of those being linebacker Khaya Wright. After spending two years with Florida International, the redshirt junior will enter the transfer portal for the second time in his collegiate career.

In 2023, Wright began the season high on the FIU depth chart, but only played in seven games for the Panthers with three total tackles and three assisted tackles.

Wright transferred originally from Georgia Tech where he spent two years, not seeing any action.

His 6’3”, 215-pound stature certainly stands out given his speed as well. Coming out of high school, Wright was a three-star recruit according to 247Sports. As a transfer, Wright is still considered a three-star athlete.

Coming out of high school, Wright received plenty of Power Four offers including the University of Miami, Rutgers and Syracuse.

The now-former Panther linebacker will have two years of eligibility remaining to play college football.

Of Note:

FIU cornerback Larry Preston also entered the transfer portal, marking the fifth Panther to enter since the portal this month

Preston spent two years with the Panthers, posting 12 total tackles through his two years with the program. Preston played in 11 games this past season, with a career total of 13 games under his belt.
