Arizona Commit Caleb Holt Wins Coveted Award

In this story:
The Arizona Wildcats’ future looks very bright with their latest high school commit, as Caleb Holt won the co-MVP for the McDonald’s All-American game earlier this week.
Holt shared the award with Missouri commit Jason Crowe Jr. Holt finished the game with 11 points on 4-5 shooting from the floor, four assists, and five rebounds. The 6-foot-5 guard announced his commitment to Arizona earlier this month, and his skill set was on display throughout the most coveted high school event.

Caleb Holt One of Nation's Top Prospects
Holt is considered one of the top prospects in this year’s high school class, and he chose Arizona despite having taken visits with Alabama, Ole Miss, Houston, Kentucky, and Providence, as well as having over 20 offers from largely power conference schools.

The 18-year-old revealed that his relationship with head coach Tommy Lloyd was a major factor in his decision to choose the Wildcats. Lloyd coached Holt when he was a part of the U19 Team USA squad. After seeing how Lloyd runs business, Holt decided on making Arizona his collegiate destination.
He averaged 10.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.7 steals in the FIBA U19 World Cup, showing off his impressive two-way ability on the way to a gold medal.

Holt Will Be Major Piece Right Away
The Prolific Prep guard could keep the Wildcats competitive for next season and beyond with his skill set. The current team is 36-2, and in the Final Four for the first time since 2001, where they’ll take on Michigan for a chance at the national championship game.
Additionally, this year’s team has three notable freshmen in their starting lineup. Brayden Burries is the team’s leading scorer, and Koa Peat and Ivan Kharchenkov have had similarly impactful seasons. Despite their youth, Lloyd has gotten the best out of his rookies, culminating in one of the best seasons in program history, one that they’ll look to finish off with a national championship trophy by next week.

With Burries and Peat likely headed for the NBA Draft this summer, they’ll pass the torch on to Holt to keep the program thriving once they depart.
After showing out in the McDonald’s All-American game, Holt will look to continue his legacy once he gets to Arizona later this year. As one of the top recruits in the country, one can expect Holt to have an immediate impact similar to that of Burries and Peat — provided he gets the same amount of playing time right away.
