Baylor Athletics Announces Launch Date for NIL Marketplace

The university will partner with Opendorse, a social media brand platform, to allow student-athletes and organizations to build partnerships.

The Baylor Bears NIL Marketplace is just days away from launch, as the university's "one-stop shop" for student-athletes and business organizations to collaborate on partnerships is the first of its kind for the school.

The launch date is set for Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Said Baylor's Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Mack Rhoades in a press release:

"We fully support student-athletes earning from their NIL in a way that appropriately recognizes the importance of inclusive opportunity, appropriate market valuations, and positively building one's brand. The NIL Marketplace is a significant step in our approach to NIL as it provides an equitable platform from which all Baylor student-athletes can engage. In addition, the marketplace will simplify NIL transactions for our student-athletes and those seeking to connect with them. We will continue to explore NIL opportunities for student-athletes that are in line with our core values, Texas state law and NCAA rules and regulations."

With the assistance of the social media branding platform, Opendorse, student-athletes can manage NIL deals, receive compensation, accept deals, and perform other monetary actions. These athletes can securely channel all communication with business partners through the app, as Opendorse assures that deals and agreements are met fairly for both sides.

The site also allows for student-athletes to use and link their social media accounts as a way of expanding their brand with a wide reach of Baylor fans and alumni.

With the marketplace now hitting the ground running, NIL opportunities for student-athletes in Waco should see a major boost as the fall approaches.
