Max Muncy is a two-time MBL all-star and the winner of the 2021 World Series. More importantly for us, though, he's a Baylor Bear. The former star in the green and gold joined Locked On Baylor and host Drake Toll to give his thoughts on the man who brought him to Waco — Mitch Thompson.

Muncy was highly recruited out of high school as one of the top players in the state of Texas, and he had no desire to go to Baylor. Without any family connections or the slightest tie to the university, Thompson's presence at a bulk of Muncy's summer games is what showed how much Baylor was really invested in the young star.

Moreover, Thompson helped develop Muncy into a freshman all-American and watched the first baseman explode onto the scene with 11 home runs in his first season in Waco. Muncy also made note of Thompson's role in compiling the greatest Baylor baseball team of all time in 2012. Despite a slow start, that squad would rattle off 24 straight wins through Big 12 play and capture the No. 1 spot in the nation during the regular season.

Mitch Thompson recruited every player on that team.

Muncy also divulged Thompson's role as an influence in his life, saying Thompson transformed him into the baseball player and man that he is today from the field to his faith. Muncy, the best big-leaguer Baylor has sent out in recent years, certainly signs off on the new headman for Baylor baseball.
