Riding a five-game winning streak entering the Mountain West Tournament, the Boise State men’s basketball team is playing like an NCAA Tournament team down the stretch.

The Broncos (20-11, 12-8), who open the MWC Tournament at 9:30 p.m. Mountain time on Wednesday against San Jose State (8-23, 3-17), are up to No. 55 in KenPom.

In his latest NCAA Tournament field of 68 projection, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi had Santa Clara (KenPom No. 34), SMU (No. 43), VCU (No. 45) and Auburn (No. 39) as his last four teams in. Indiana (No. 41), Virginia Tech (No. 56), Stanford (No. 59) and New Mexico (No. 49) were Lunardi’s first four out, followed by Cincinnati (No. 42), California (No. 71), Oklahoma (No. 46) and San Diego State (No. 47).

Utah State (25-6, 15-5), the MWC’s KenPom leader at No. 36, earned a No. 8 seed in Lunardi’s latest projection. The Aggies were the only MWC team included in his field of 68.
