Boston College lost to Florida State held off blowing a ten point lead to defeat the Eagles 38-31 in the Red Bandana game at Alumni Stadium. It was a game where BC's defense struggled mightily again, allowing over 510 yards and four explosive plays that ended up being the difference.

The game started with Boston College marching down the field on their first drive, riding the physical running attack of AJ Dillon and David Bailey, 281 yards combined, which looked like a statement drive. To cap the 12 play drive quarterback Dennis Grosel (152 yards, 1 touchdown) hit Kobay White who was wide open in the end zone.

However Florida State answered with a consistent eleven play drive of their own as quarterback James Blackman (346 yards and two touchdowns) was able to move the ball around through the air, and Cam Akers was picking up good amount of yards every run, but BC locked down near the end zone and forced Florida State to kick a field goal to make it a 7-3 Boston College lead.

The Eagles and Noles traded off punts, and later in the second quarter David Bailey took two runs in FSU territory for the Eagles to score again. But it was that Boston College passing defense that let down the Eagles again as Blackman hit Tamorrion Terry for a 74 yard touchdown pass.

BC finished the half with some questionable clock management. Grosel was able to make a handful of third down conversions to Kobay White. On second down, Grosel was sacked, BC let the clock drain down and Aaron Boumerhi missed a 46 yard field goal to end the half.

To start the second half Florida State scored ten unanswered points to give them a 24-14 lead, led by a 30 yard touchdown run by backup QB Jordan Travis.

BC was able to storm back with a field goal by Aaron Boumerhi, and a fantastic drive by Dennis Grosel who looked fantastic today that was capped off by a fantastic diving touchdown. But it was the BC defense that was the story, it took three plays for FSU to score a long touchdown pass from Blackman to DJ Matthews again. Just to rub dirt on the wound, Jordan Travis ran for another 60 yard touchdown run with a minute left in the game.

BC was not done yet though as they stormed down the field with 15 seconds left, Dennis Grosel hit Kobay White for his second touchdown of the game.
