Recruiting efforts have recently ramped up in all areas, as now the Eagles can communicate with both the Class of 2021 and 2022. While coaches are remaining in Chestnut Hill during summer practices, they have been making offers and contacting recruits from across the country.

Here are some recruiting news and tidbits.

* Spoke with '22 Virginia athlete Tyler Banks this week, who has been in contact with Boston College. According to the recruit he was contacted by linebacker coach Sean Duggan. Nothing big on that front, but he is a recruit that the staff is trying to keep tabs on.

* Interesting article in the Salem News today on St. John's Prep athlete Joenel Aguero '23. Already ranked by 247 as the top recruit in the Massachusetts, Aguero is a name to watch. He already has offers from BC, Michigan, Arkansas, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Michigan State (amongst many others). While winning a recruiting battle for a local star like Drew Kendall will undoubtedly be a big deal, landing Aguero would be an even bigger one.

* Another local name that needs some clarification is '22 linebacker Tyler Martin. Although he is one of the top '22 local recruits, I have been told that he in fact does NOT have a Boston College offer. While this new coaching staff wants to recruit the local area hard, they want guys that fit what they are looking for. They have already shown a propensity to not go hard after local guys that don't fit, especially if they have other recruits on the board ranked higher. Other examples of this approach include Josaiah Stewart and Louis Hanson. BC could eventually offer Martin but haven't yet

*Speaking of Josaiah Stewart, he recently committed to Coastal Carolina. This is probably the best fit for him in terms of his skill set, from people I have talked to he most likely would never have been an ACC starting defensive end.

* Another target, wide receiver Cardrece Mobley committed to South Florida this week. Guessing based on his destination that the Eagles were not pushing hard for him.

* The 247sports guys are pushing their chips towards Drew Kendall to Boston College. Brian Dohn, who is usually correct switched his prediction from Michigan to the Eagles yesterday. Earlier this week I also made the prediction that Kendall will end up with the Eagles.

* Boston College commit Ilija Krajonovic's IMG Academy football team will be be playing tonight at 8pm on ESPNU.
