Boston College landed Clinton Burton Jr., a four star defensive back out of St. Frances Academy in Maryland. The recruit announced his commitment on Twitter on Friday evening.

Burton is a huge get for the Eagles, according to 247sports, Burton is a four star recruit with offers from Florida, Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Penn State, USC and loads of other programs. He is ranked the #20 defensive back in the country and #176 overall. ESPN has Burton as the #5 cornerback in the country. In what might be an unprecedented move for the school, Boston College was able to flip Burton from the University of Florida.

Landing a recruit like Burton again shows how valuable the combination of defensive backs coach Aazaar Abdul Rahim and Jeff Hafley have become for the future of the BC program. Given the reputation of the head coach, Boston College is quickly becoming a big destination for premier defensive backs, and AAR is the type of recruiter that can close the deal to bring them to Chestnut Hill.

Burton is BC's first four star recruit of the class, and the highest they have landed in the Class of 2021. He may not be the last four star defensive back they land. Keep an eye out for Daymond David, another four star with solid connections with Abdul Rahim. He had BC in his final grouping and after a series of commitments the leader Oklahoma may not have the roster spot for him.

There has been a lot of talk about Hafley bringing up the recruiting profile for Boston College. Tonight, the commitment of Clinton Burton Jr. was the first major move in that direction, and getting him over the schools he had offered really show how important this commitment is for the Eagle.

Burton is the second St. Frances recruit to commit to Jeff Hafley's staff, joining '22 defensive back Jamal Hood who committed in early May.
