Cal players and coachers were disappointed that they were not one of the 68 teams that received berths to the women's NCAA Tournament announced Sunday night, but they will be playing a postseason game.

The Bears will be in the postseason for the first time since 2019 in the inaugural Women's Invitation Tournament (WBIT). That 32-team field was announced Sunday night, and the Bears will play their first game in that event at home.

Cal (18-14) earned the No. 2 seed in its eight-team section and will face Hawaii (20-10) in its first-round game on Thursday in Berkeley.

If the Bears win that game, they will play a second-round game on March 24 in Berkeley against the winner of the first-round matchup between Saint Joseph and Seton Hall.

Should Cal get to the quarterfinals it is likely to face the top seed in this section, Villanova.  That game would be played on March 28.

The semifinals and finals will be played at Butler University in Indianapolis on April 1 and 3.

Two other Pac-12 teams, Washington and Washington State, are also in the WBIT.
