Report: Cal Basketball Commit Michael Meadows Will Transfer Out

Guard Mike Meadows, who played for Eastern Washington and Portland, before entering the transfer portal and committing to Cal in May, apparently has left the Golden Bears' roster and has re-entered the transfer portal.
That's according to a report by Tobias Bass of The Athletic on Sunday.
🚨NEWS: Former Portland guard Michael Meadows, who committed to Cal-Berkeley in May, will re-open his recruitment.

The grad transfer averaged 11.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists while shooting 36 percent from three this past season at Portland @TheAthleticCBB @VerbalCommits
Meadows averaged 11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists last season for Portland.
A 6-foot-2 grad transfer, Meadows played the past two seasons at Portland after playing two years at Eastern Washington. Former Cal guard Shantay Legans coached both programs.
In 2021-22, Meadows averaged 10.2 points and 3.0 assists while starting 25 of 26 games for Portland. However, a back injury limited him that season.
Meadows, 24, announced on March 29 that he was transferring to Loyola Marymount, but a month later changed his mind, and announced he had committed to Cal. Now he is changing his mind again.
The timing of Meadows' decision to re-enter the portal is interesting, suggesting it may have something to do with the demise of the Pac-12 conference. However, he has only one year of college eligibility remaining, and the Pac-12 will remain intact for the 2023-24 basketball season.
Meadows apparently was on the Cal campus during the summer and went through some workouts with the team, based on this Cal basketball tweet of three weeks ago:
“Stay in the moment.”

Meadows was one of five transfers new Cal head coach Mark Madsen brought to Berkeley since Madsen was hired this past offseason.
The Bears went 3-29 last season, and the 2023-24 season will be Cal's final season in the Pac-12 in its current makeup.
