Jaylyn Sherrod was one of 25 players on the Wooden Award midseason watch list, per an announcement on Thursday.

The Colorado Buffaloes star has had an amazing season so far and continues to gather recognition for her work on the hardwood. As a whole, the Pac-12 had the highest number of players named on the list with six. A huge accomplishment for Sherrod to be among the likes of Iowa's Catlin Clark and LSU's Angel Reese.

The nominees were picked by a panel of college basketball experts who went through game-by-game performances. The Los Angeles Athletic Club on behalf of the Wooden Award hosts 1,000 aspiring young athletes for a week-long camp free of charge to the attendees. It's all part of their contribution to the game. The annual award honors the most outstanding men and women’s college basketball players.

Sherrod is a natural fit for the honor. She has averaged 13.6 points per game with 5.7 assists so far this season, while leading the 5th-ranked Buffaloes to a 13-1 record.

Colorado's head coach JR Payne complemented Sherrod's skillset during an interview with NCAA’s March Madness.

“Jaylyn, we say, is truly a one percenter," Payne said. "Jaylyn is that kid, I mean she thrives and excels in every aspect of her life whether it’s academically or on the floor. She’s one of the toughest, most hard-nosed players we’ve ever coached. Her mantra is will over skill and she lives that…she’s incredible. There have been very few like her and there will be very few to come.”

Colorado's women’s team returns to action on Friday night when they host California (9 p.m. ET/TV: PAC12N).
