Men's Basketball Selection Sunday: Colorado will play Boise State in First Four
The Colorado Buffaloes (24-10) will play Boise State (22-10) in the First Four of the South Region to open the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The winner will take on No. 7 Florida in Indianapolis.
Tad Boyle's team was on the bubble going into the Pac-12 Tournament, but got a much-needed boost to their NCAA resume before losing to Oregon in the title game. They took an eight-game winning streak into Saturday night, along with sweeping the Ducks in the regular season series. Colorado has the highest net ranking (25th) among the First Four teams.
Boise State took a 76-66 loss at the hands of New Mexico in the Mountain West Conference Tournament on Thursday night. They ended the regular season with a 3-2 record against AP Top 25 opponents, including a 65-58 win over Colorado State on January 10. Despite a hot start, the Rams are also part of the First Four. They face Virginia in Charlotte with Texas awaiting the winner.
Colorado advanced to the Round of 32 in 2021, but haven't had much success on the big dance over the past fifty years. This will be the fifteenth NCAA Tournaments appearance, making it to the Final Four in 1942 and 1955. It's also the sixth bid under Boyle over the past 14 years and the eighth overall in 55 years. The Buffs will try to advance past the opening rounds of the tournament and make a statement to end the season.
