Oregon's Dan Lanning claims Colorado irrelevant to Pac-12
There's been no shortage of ongoing storylines during this off-season in college football. Perhaps one of the best in recent memory.
With Colorado making an exit from the Pac-12 next year, everyone seems to have an opinion on where Oregon will be in 2024. However, it sounds like Dan Lanning might be content staying on the titanic while the band continues to play.
When asked for his reaction to Colorado heading to the Big 12, the Ducks' coach didn't offer any congratulatory remarks.
"I’m trying to remember what (Colorado) won to effect this conference when they were part of it. I don’t remember," Lanning said.
Oregon and Washington hold all the cards to the Pac-12 with USC and UCLA heading to the Big Ten next year. Colorado made the decision to leave after the conference failed to construct an adequate media rights deal.
The Pac-12 survival rate is low at this point. Can they bring three premium schools to the conference and make a profit?
It sounds like a lose-lose situation because broadcast partners have devalued the Pac-12 with a Los Angeles base.
Colorado travels to Oregon to open conference play on Sept. 23.
