Drake Maye has built an impressive resume in the ACC since bursting onto the scene a couple of years ago. North Carolina's top-rated QB is coming off a successful off-season, which included a trip to the bayou for this year's Manning Passing Academy. He's also a solid top-five projection on a lot of NFL mock draft boards.

The Charlotte native returned home for ACC Media Day and fielded a vast amount of questions from how he fits with Mack Brown to his building his receiving corps. Maye was also asked about another QB's progress, and the silent giant out West that has been stealing all the headlines.

"Over there on the west coast, they don't run into many of the guys on the east coast," Maye told BuffsBeat about Shedeur Sanders. "He's a great player, and they have it going on there in Colorado. It would be fun to watch him do his thing."

Gary Barnett says Colorado couldn't afford to keep leaving money on the table in Pac-12

Maye would've been a counselor with Sanders at the Manning Camp, except Shedeur wasn't able to make this year's events. Coach Prime's son lit up the statsheet over the past two seasons at Jackson State with 70 TDs and earned the Deacon Jones award for the best HBCU player last year.

As for Maye, he entered his junior season as one of the best quarterbacks in the nation with a ton of Heisman hype after accounting for over 5,000 total yards and 45 touchdowns in 2022.

Sanders and the Buffs are headed into the school's final Pac-12 season. They'll open on the road in Fort Worth with national runner-up TCU on Sept. 2.
