In an interview with Sole Collector, Zion Williamson said that he was responsible for the shoe blowout heard 'round the world.

Williamson planted early in last season's first game against UNC, and his shoe tore apart, causing him to miss two weeks with a sore knee.

The incident earned nationwide attention and caused Nike stock to drop.

Nike customized shoes for him when he returned, to make sure there wasn't a repeat of the problem, but Williamson has now admitted that he shares responsibility.

"It was just one of those things where the shoe was kinda worn out because I had been practicing in it a lot and played a few hard games in it. So I think that was just kinda like my mistake. I just need to change my shoe," he told the outlet.
