Colin Castleton will get one final opportunity to showcase his skill set prior to the 2023 NBA Draft.

On Tuesday, the former Florida Gators big man earned an invite to the 2023 NBA G-League Elite Camp, set to start on May 13 in Chicago, Ill.

The camp is an invite-only, three-day event that allows prospective draft talent to showcase their skills in front of NBA scouts, coaches and front-office personnel. It also gives several participants a bid into the annual NBA Draft Combine, based on their performance during the camp.

Castleton served as one of the highest-used offensive players in college basketball last season as Florida operated through its big throughout the longevity of the 2022-23 season. Suffering a season-ending hand fracture against Ole Miss on Feb. 15, Castleton’s was noticeable as the Gators spiraled from their bubble status to a first-round elimination in the NIT.

The hand injury effectively ended his final season at Florida, where he compiled 16 points, 7.7 rebounds, three blocks and 2.7 assists per game on average. The DeLand (Fla.) native also officially eclipsed the 1,000-point mark while donning orange and blue threads in the 2022-23 season.

He immediately turned his attention to the NBA Draft, looking to earn a selection after three efficient years at UF post-transfer from Michigan.

Proving to be a dominant two-way piece for the Gators throughout his career — a fact that was magnified in one year under Todd Golden — Castleton’s expected to earn considerable interest as a second-round draft selection after five seasons in the collegiate ranks. His final season accentuated his talents to earn that status.

However, while his offensive skillset in the post and rim-protecting abilities present intrigue, franchises will continue to evaluate his ability to expand his range as a shooter before deploying him in a heightened capacity.

It’s an area he’s worked on in his pre-draft preparations.

The G-League camp will give him the opportunity to showcase any potential expansion in that area. It will also be his first exposure since his mid-February exit from Florida’s lineup.

The NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 22 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
