The hidden gem of Florida’s 2024 recruiting efforts will officially visit campus this summer.

South Gwinnett offensive line prospect Marcus Mascoll has scheduled an official visit to Gainesville to begin on June 9, he confirmed to All Gators on Wednesday.

Despite holding just a three-star ranking, Mascoll said the Gators staff views him as a “hidden gem” on the offensive line in the cycle, given the length, athleticism and versatility he displays. As a result, he is currently viewed as one of Florida’s top priorities on the exterior of the offensive line in the 2024 class.

“You know, it just means a lot to see the faith they have in me, belief in me. They see the potential,” Mascoll told All Gators about the University of Florida following his unofficial visit in late March.

His first trip to The Swamp allowed Mascoll to grow further familiar with what Florida provided while simultaneously building strong face-to-face relationships with several members of the Gators staff, including head coach Billy Napier.

“It was great,” he said regarding their conversations. “He told me he sees it’s a great fit for me and also told me I’m the hidden gem.”

Offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton echoed a similar sentiment while standing out to the Peach State prospect, given their shared responsibilities as on-field position coaches.

However, the emphasis in the offensive trenches beyond the two figureheads notably caught Mascoll’s eye.

“There’s guys behind the scenes. They really have like four (o-line coaches), to be honest,” he said. “But, it means a lot to know they’re focusing primarily on that position. They’re focusing on the little things and corrections.”

While he doesn’t possess the prototypical size the Gators have targeted from their offensive tackles of late, Mascoll encompasses a healthy frame at 6-foot-5, 295 pounds that could withstand adding weight when he arrives at the next level without hindering any aspects of his talent.

He expects to play tackle when he arrives at his university of choice — and shared he believes Florida intends to slot him there — but can lean on his experience playing guard at the prep level if needed upon his collegiate arrival.

Said versatility is an integral component of how the Gators have recruited the position under the Napier regime.

Florida will earn the second of three scheduled visits in the month of June, at this point, with LSU (June 2) and NC State (June 19) earning Mascoll’s presence for multi-day stays this summer.

The Gators hope to continue impressing the imposing trenchman as they attempt to protect franchise quarterback commit DJ Lagway in the future, an endeavor that will culminate during the summer months when a bevy of offensive line talent heads to campus for official visits.

Florida is currently without an offensive line pledge in 2024.

As a result, Mascoll’s stay in the second weekend of June aligns as one of the primary focuses moving into the crucial summer slate of the Gators' efforts on the trail.
