Chiles committed to Florida over Michigan and Maryland specifically, the top three schools in a recruitment consisting of at least 32, during his June official visit to the program.
With his future position coach's ties to the DMV area in mind, UF assistant Jay Bateman played an instrumental role in convincing Chiles to don orange and blue threads at the collegiate level. Bateman possesses ample experience recruiting the region from his time as the defensive coordinator at North Carolina, Army and Elon.
Chiles is one of three inside linebackers pledged to Florida in the class of 2024, alongside Myles Graham of local Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz and Adarius Hayes of Largo (Fla.) High.
A consensus top-100 prospect, Chiles is regarded as the No. 8 linebacker and No. 92 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class by the 247Sports composite rankings.
Learn more about Chiles' skill set and fit in Florida's defense via his All Gators recruit profile below.
Chiles offers the Gators a blend of college-ready size, athleticism and instincts to utilize in the second level of their defense. He best projects as an inside WILL linebacker, although he has proven effective in the middle, on the overhang and as an edge rusher at the prep level. Chiles recorded 74 tackles, 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles as a junior in 2022, before committing to Florida over Michigan and Maryland, UF's competition in his former top three schools. He followed up with 88 tackles including 22 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception as a senior, en route to MaxPreps' Player of the Year honors for the state of Maryland.
