Florida's pursuit of Odom began under its previous coaching staff when he first visited the program in Oct. 2021. He returned to Gainesville to connect with current head coach Billy Napier and the new-look Gators this past January.
247Sports reports that Odom has set up several official visits for June, although Gainesville is not yet on his upcoming travel schedule. Odom will head to Alabama on June 2, Penn State on June 9 and Miami on June 23, each trip considered official.
Odom, 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, is considered the No. 6 tight end and No. 85 overall prospect in the class of 2024 according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He hauled in 63 receptions for 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior during his first season at Carrollton after two years at Villa Rica (Ga.) High.
At his current size and provided his athleticism — with a self-reported 4.6-second 40-yard dash and 35-inch vertical at the prep level — Odom could also take on a role as a big-bodied wide receiver at the next level with continual development as a route-runner.
Florida aims to bolster its tight end room in the recruiting class of 2024 after going without a signee at the position in the 2023 cycle. Only Tony Livingston joined the team this offseason as a grayshirt freshman, having originally signed with UF in the class of 2022.
