Robinson named the Gators among his top eight schools on March 10, his final list trimming before committing to the Hurricanes just over a month later. Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Ole Miss and Penn State were also included in that group of contenders.
The presence of a quarterback of the future in his recruiting class, paired with roster familiarity, are appealing factors in Florida's recruitment of Robinson. Two alumni of his high school, defensive end Tyreak Sapp and linebacker Derek Wingo, are members of the team, and so is a pass-catcher from South Florida that Robinson knows well.
“What I like about Florida, they have a QB commit in my class, DJ Lagway. I know he's a good player and if you can get matched up with a good quarterback like that, you can take a team a [long] way," Robinson told All Gators on March 5. "They’re always keeping in contact with me.
“They also have [wide receiver] Andy Jean up there right now and he looks like he’s doing good. They have a couple guys from down in south Florida and they’re always keeping in touch."
He paid Florida an unofficial visit for the first time on April 13, the day before he committed to Miami. The pledge did not prevent UF from continuing to push for his services, leading to the upcoming official visit.
Robinson, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, is considered the No. 22 wide receiver and No. 151 overall prospect in the class of 2024 according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He produced a breakout season during St. Thomas Aquinas' 2022 state championship run, the program's fourth in a row, with 29 receptions for 540 yards (18.6 yards per catch) and 13 touchdowns.
Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Robinson is the highest-rated member of Miami's 2024 class of commitments.
