Florida Gators Named to DB Ashton Hampton's Top 6

In this story:
Another day, another top schools list announcement.
On Monday, Florida State University School (Tallahassee, Fla.) defensive back Ashton Hampton trimmed his 19-team offer sheet to six contenders as he heads into a busy slate of visits this summer.
Hampton included the Florida Gators alongside Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, LSU and Miami as the teams he'll focus on for the remainder of his recruitment process.

Standing at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Hampton possesses impressive length and versatility in the secondary to serve at both safety and cornerback at the next level. His stature and athleticism suggest high-upside on the boundary, a spot secondary coach Corey Raymond aims to stack talent with traits that mirror Hampton's.
He's pursued primarily by Gators defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong, suggesting his services are a priority now and moving forward.
Raymond, a renowned defensive back assistant, runs back up to provide further firepower on the trail for Florida as the duo vies to earn Hampton's services.
The Tallahassee native recently visited the University of Florida in late March. During that stop, he earned his offer from the program and grew familiar with the coaching staff under head coach Billy Napier.

"I had an amazing time on Saturday in #TheSwamp!! I could truly feel the love from the entire coach staff," the Florida DB target said via a Twitter post on Monday, March 27.
Hampton is scheduled to officially visit five of the six schools in contention. Four visits are set during the summer, including a June 9-11 trip to UF. His lone in-season visit will come to Florida State Dec. 8-10.
There is no set timeline for a commitment. Still, the gauge on Hampton's recruitment will become much clearer — at least internally — throughout June as he gets a better look at Clemson, Florida, Miami and Arkansas across the first four weekends of the month.
