The Florida Gators are stockpiling talent in the trenches.

Two days removed from the undenied biggest recruiting day in the short history of Billy Napier’s tenure in Gainesville — landing four pledges: from TE Amir Jackson, DE Amaris Williams, DL Nasir Johnson and LB Aaron Chiles — Florida maintained its momentum on Monday.

This time, Creekside (Ga.) defensive lineman Michai Boireau pledged himself to the Gators.

He chose UF over offers from the likes of Georgia and Michigan, giving Florida a much-needed win on the trail against two College Football Playoff contenders in each of the past two years.

Performing as a monstrous piece in the middle who can command double teams and clog holes on the interior of the line of scrimmage to redirect ball carrier’s into the arms of waiting teammates, the 6-foot-5, 355-pound first-level defender will fill a crucial nose tackle spot.

Boireau is freshly removed from a trip to Athens (Ga.) June 16-18 for an official visit with Georgia. He recently stayed at Florida from June 9-11, leaving impressed with what the program and staff had to offer for his collegiate career.

Defensive line coach Sean Spencer showed Boireau enough during the trip to not only accelerate his recruitment timeline, but cancel his visit to the Wolverines.

The move created a two-team race between the longtime SEC East foes Florida and Georgia. The Gators — getting the first crack at luring in Boireau — fended off the two-time reigning national champion Bulldogs to earn a big-time pledge from the underrated prospect.

Boireau’s alignment with Florida brings the 2024 commitment class total to 14 prospects.

He is the third defensive lineman to join forces with the Gators thus far.
