The Florida Gators cracked Holmes Community College safety Laquan Robinson’s top five on Tuesday, joining Auburn, Houston, Ole Miss and Texas A&M as finalists to earn his services next season.

Standing at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, the Greenville (Ala.) native quickly picked up steam after an impressive freshman campaign for the Bulldogs. He compiled 46 tackles, three tackles for loss and an interception in nine games played in 2022, aiding his unit to a 5-4 record.

Florida, as a result, extended Robinson an offer on April 26, opening the line of communication for the high-upside safety prospect to join the fold once he becomes eligible for a jump to Division-I.

Ranked as the No. 5 overall player and No. 1 safety in JUCO per 247Sports, Robinson is a long, physical, ball-hawking prospect who can continue the trend of replenishing the Gators backend with varying skillsets.

If he were to choose Florida, Robinson would be used as a versatile piece given the athleticism he displays, showing he can make an impact on the bball in deep zone coverage or deliver jarring blows from the box.

Robinson would be the sixth Gators acquisition from the JUCO route under the Billy Napier regime, joining wide receiver Thai Chaiokhiao-Bowman (Independence CC), running back Jakobi Jackson (Coahoma CC), offensive lineman Jordan Herman (Hutchinson CC), edge rusher Quincy Ivory (East Los Angeles College) and defensive lineman Keenan Landry (Mississippi Gulf Coast CC).

Cornerback Jadarrius Perkins also represents the move from JUCO to UF, as he was plucked from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College under the previous staff.
