WR Tawaski 'TJ' Abrams Flips Commitment to Florida From FSU

Florida obtains its fourth pass-catcher commitment in the class of 2024 as Florida State pledge Tawaski "TJ" Abrams has flipped to the Gators.

Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar class of 2024 wide receiver Tawaski "TJ" Abrams announced via On3 Sports on Tuesday that he has flipped his commitment to Florida from Florida State.

Abrams was on campus during Florida's June 16-18 official visit weekend, inarguably the program's most successful individual recruiting outing in recent memory.

He was present to witness four prospects commit to the program in person on Saturday — tight end Amir Jackson, defensive linemen Amaris Williams and Nasir Johnson, and linebacker Aaron Chiles

Following the pledges of defensive lineman Michai Boireau, offensive linemen Fletcher Westphal and Marcus Mascoll, edge rushers Jamonta Waller and Kendall Jackson, wide receiver Jerrae Hawkins Jr. and cornerback Teddy Foster since the big day, Abrams becomes the latest to join in on the fun that is UF’s 2024 recruiting hot streak.

Abrams' flip brings to an end what was a near-six month pledge to the Gators' in-state rival Seminoles. Programs including but not limited to Texas A&M, Louisiana State and Miami have also courted Abrams in the current recruiting cycle.

Abrams, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, is regarded as the No. 40 wide receiver and No. 276 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite rankings.

A speedy, elusive playmaker with the ball in his hands, Abrams caught 37 passes for 429 yards and five touchdowns, rushed 21 times for 248 yards and two touchdowns, and averaged 22 yards per kick return and 28.5 yards per punt return as a junior in 2022.

Abrams also runs track for Dunbar. He produced a personal record of 10.62 seconds in the 100-meter dash in March 2022 and posted another two 10.6-second-range results in the same event this year.

Abrams is the third wide receiver and fourth pass-catcher to commit to Florida in the class of 2024, joining Jackson, Hawkins and receiver Izaiah Williams as weapons for elite quarterback pledge DJ Lagway to utilize in the Gators' future offense.

UF's 2024 recruiting class is up to 21 members in total.
