The Gators have notably expanded their horizon when searching for talent to the DMV under head coach Billy Napier’s reign as several top targets hail from the area.
Former Army defensive coordinator and current Gators linebackers coach Jay Bateman has taken the lead for talent occupying from the region after building a strong reputation during his extended stay there earlier in his coaching career. Specifically, linebackers Kristopher Jones (Fairfax, Va.) and Aaron Chiles — a fellow Our Lady Good Counsel standout — align as the main focuses in the area.
However, they’re not alone.
Moore, just over a month following his April 6 offer from the school, coming in person as he visited Gainesville, adds to Florida’s list as it looks to retool the spot with capable pass catchers to serve as weapons for quarterback pledge DJ Lagway in his career in orange and blue.
Wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales will be busy in the coming months attempting to equip the 2024 class with high-caliber pass catchers to join commit Izaiah Williams.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound, Moore would be a perfect fit to assume one of the boundary positions, aligning with Gonzales’ history of recruiting tall and long athletes out wide. His home run hitting ability as a deep threat and swift movement in the open field after the catch prove desirable for UF’s offense if he elects the Gators as his collegiate home.
Currently, Moore has just one official visit scheduled as he’ll head to Ohio State June 16-18.
However, he expects to take five total official visits to each of the schools remaining in contention for his services at this stage, meaning Florida will earn at least one more opportunity to host him before he makes a commitment decision.
