Florida Nabs Commitment From WR Josiah Abdullah

Woodward Academy wide receiver Josiah Abdullah has pledged to the Florida Gators.

The Florida Gators have nabbed their second commit of the 2025 recruiting cycle in the form of consensus three-star wide receiver Josiah Abdullah.

Abdullah is freshly removed from an unofficial visit to Florida on Saturday, the Gators' first junior day of the year.

Hailing from Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete holds 50 scholarship offers from an array of the nation’s top schools. He notably chose Florida over considerable interest from Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, and Tennessee.

“Time to make a legacy!” Abdullah told On3 Sports about his commitment.

Emerging during his sophomore season, Abdullah flashed his dynamic playmaking skillset within the War Eagles offense, accounting for 35 receptions, 536 yards and eight touchdowns. He also shined on special teams, taking a kickoff return for a score during Woodward’s 11-2 campaign.

He built on the breakout season in 2023, reeling in 52 catches for 786 yards and 10 scores en route to a 12-3 year and GHSAA Class 6A state championship appearance.

His speed on the boundary — having clocked an 11.24 100-meter dash in April of 2023 during his track season — aligns with Florida’s desire to equip the wide receiver room with home-run-hitting talent.

It’s led to the Gators' compilation of Eugene ‘Tre’ Wilson III, Aidan Mizell, Andy Jean, Jerrae ‘Tank’ Hawkins Jr. and Tawaski Abrams at Billy Gonzales’ position over the last two cycles.

Abdullah joins Plant (Tampa, Fla.) High running back Waltez Clark as commits anchoring UF’s early 2025 class. Both players are considered high-upside pieces capable of eventually aiding franchise quarterback DJ Lagway in operating the Gators' offensive attack.

The Peach State wideout is also a former teammate of Florida 2024 linebacker signee Myles Graham, who played at Woodward before transferring to Buchholz his senior prep season.

Graham expressed his excitement for Florida’s pickup via X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Gator Nation we got one of the best receivers in the nation!” Graham said.

Billy Napier and Florida’s staff strive to continue stacking offensive talent in 2025 after acquiring another stout defensive-oriented class in 2024.
