Nolan Smith Says he Believes Nakobe Dean is Ready to Step into Starting Role
From his early days at the University of Georgia, Eagles linebacker Nolan Smith has always been a "team-first" guy who builds his teammates up and celebrates their successes as if they were his own. Smith exemplified this in a recent interview following practice with the Eagles.
Smith was asked about his new teammate Nakobe Dean and whether or not he believed that he was ready to take the next step in his career with the Eagles. The rookie stated that he was more than confident in Dean's abilities.
"My dawg [Dean] been ready. He's been doing this since day one. I ain't worried about that, I'm ready to follow him. He's been the signal caller at Georgia for three years in a row and I know how hard Coach Smart [Kirby Smart] is on him and I know what he expects from himself."

Dean and Smith were both teammates during the Bulldogs' 2021 national championship season before Dean was selected 83rd overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2022 NFL Draft. He had a minor role during the Eagles' 2022 NFC Championship season but is expected to have a more substantial role in 2023.
